Clinics Medicann UK

Hey everyone,

I'm completely new to MedBud and recently signed up with Medicann due to hearing all the great things about them on social media.
I decided to try MC as my anxiety and depression has gotten so much worse recently, and my GP wouldn't prescibe me Propranolol anymore due to a recent Asthma diagnosis. Panic attacks are picking up again even when I'm not stressed or I'm relaxing - out of nowhere 🙃
So, I'm completely new to Cannabis and have no tolerance whatsoever.
I'd enjoyed the solid type stuff that we used to use back in the 80's and 90's and enjoyed the chilled, laid back, giggly feeling that came with it.
Years later (approx 6 years ago), I tried some of a family members BM Cannabis in a smoke. I only had around 3-4 tokes, but what followed was what can only be described, as a complete and utter whitey! Within 5 minutes, my heart felt like it was going to exit through my chest, followed by paranoia, vomiting and praying to the Lord God above to take this feeling away for the next few hours 😂 Needless to say, I swore I'd never touch the stuff again, yet here I am wondering if it was just a one time experience and could MC be the actual relief that I'm so desperate to find.

With this in mind, my first prescription choice was very small. I ordered the Curaleaf T10 C10 gummies and the 4C Labs T850 Watermelon Splash cart. I couldn't find any appropriate Indica leaning carts and only just realised the difference between resin, rosin and distillate - distillate being more potent.
My delivery arrived this morning and I'm now worried to try the cart, even to try one toke 😞

I purchased the Uni Pro mod to use it with and have set it all up, I'm just terrified to take the first hit. Obviously, this is how extreme my anxiety is and wondering whether going in anxious is going to bring about an anxious experience.

I'm just wondering whether you think this is the right cart for me as a complete newbie to Cannabis?

Sorry for the long post but I literally have no one else experienced with this to ask.

Thank you in advance ☺️

Welcome to the forum @Lagertha and as @Daikine states just try a little and see how it affects you over the next period of time say an hour or so and build your confidence that way as if you do find relief you'll soon become comfy with using it and become more tolerant .
The same with the edibles as you do not have to eat a full one and just whilst you get used to them maybe try a third or so the first time so you get a feel of what to expect when trying a larger dose (y)

Hey and Welcome to the community, plenty of people here to point you in the right direction your in the right place 🤟😎🔥

@Lagertha do not be afraid, take one small 3 second puff and wait a while. You can always take more if needed ✌️
For a first few weeks you would probably do not need much to be satisfied.
Hey, Thank you for responding.. It's crazy to think that I've gone down this route to possibly help with my anxiety yet it's that that's stopping me for taking the first step.
I'm going to sort out the dinner and get myself together then try it out 💪

I'm going to save the edibles for the weekend just incase I end up floored lol. I think i will just try a quarter or so and see how it goes.
I think the mistake I've made not purchasing some CBD to counteract it if I do get a bad reaction.
Gawd, I feel so pathetic to be so worried - I hope that I'm here in a few weeks looking back and laughing about it.

Thank you for the advice, it's really appreciated ☺️

I was chewing on few black peppercorns when I felt it’s too much buzz to handle :D
Btw I’m having an appointment tomorrow regarding my MC !!!

whatever you do don't phone an ambulance you'll be fine lol
I know you're joking @THCUK, but just to point out - do phone an ambulance if you think it's necessary.

It likely won't be, but obviously if you feel you need immediate medical care, please do not hesitate whatsoever.

A T10 edible might be mighty strong for no tolerance. Eat like a third of that first. Even oil is usually measured as 2mg/starter or 5mg/starter. As most doctors also say, start low, go slow.

But yeah, even if you freak out, eventually you will be fine. Nothing can really go wrong. Just wait it out. You'll build your tolerance in time. Keep it low - keep the costs low!

edit: yes of course if you decide you need the ambulance, don't hesitate to call them tho

No need to be cynical here, Medicann is one of the oldest medical cannabis clinics - they've just only operating in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man so far. We know a lot of their history in the industry, even if UK/mainland patients haven't quite seen it yet. We've long expected UK clinics to drop to a zero-fee model, and Medicann is simply the first to take the dive with their mainland launch.

The clinic losses will be offset by pharmacy sales via IPS no doubt, this is the common model for many companies right now. While not immediately, we've 'semi-confirmed' at least one big clinic will drop fees to follow a similar model - and then no doubt others will follow suit.

It's a genuine offer, and we're not expecting any 'catches' - the only strong public point we'll make now is that they must still properly allow patients to use other pharmacies if they request. Our understanding right now is there will be a £4.99 fee used either writing scripts to external pharmacies, or as the delivery fee when using IPS - similar to CB1 Medical.
I wanted to ask a question about the last paragraph here. I sent an email today asking for a Glass Pharms Blueberry to be ordered in for me and the reply I got from someone signed off as the front desk receptionist! It went like this:

Please select strains which are available within the app.

Regards

Can I ask your advice on how I approach this, i am aware i can quote GMC rules back at them but will it endanger my access to the clinic? Can they sack me off for being "problematic" if I push the issue. I ask because I have only just recently moved over and am grateful to not be paying any fees as money is tighter than a camels arse in a sandstorm at the mo in this castle.

I'd be slightly careful on this one, they've discharged people for requesting or demanding to use external pharmacies so its something you need to think about strongly before joining them, pros are you will have complete freedom to pick what you when required etc no THC limit / allowance however you will need to use their formulary (which is now quite good to be honest and only going to get better from here on)

Hi @Lagertha welcome 🙋‍♀️ if it's any consolation that’s an absolute classic! ‘Only 3-4 puffs’ you found out the hard way flower can be strong these days! 🔥😅 I see you are thinking of trying a 1/4 of an edible, that is smart. Seeing as you are anxious about it I might even suggest trying just a crumb initially, and working your way up from basically no effects at all. The last thing you want is another unpleasant experience. Or if you are going to try the vape, again, start on a mere sniff of a nanosecond puff. I am of the opinion that "It's not doing anything" is a better place to start than "oh god when will it end" 🙏🤣

Definitely does seem that way doesn't it, like they're trying to work on some kind of gentleman's agreement where you pay no fees and don't use external pharmacies. I have to be honest it all sounds quite sketchy, legally speaking, but I suppose they have done their homework so to speak.

I kinda like the agreement and respect them for it, they dont take a penny off us for providing their services so I'm more than up for showing my loyalty to them - only company in the whole of the MC sector doing this atm 🔥

I wasn't joking but in hindsight it was probably not the right thing to say... I'm just picturing it affecting your private script status if you have a bad reaction and phone 999 🫣 I'd need to battle it out and let it naturally do its thing, I'm forgetting they've not got much of a tolerance so it may affect them a lot greater...

What an incredibly curt reply, ignoring their own specialist's need to correctly consider all treatment options available equally - and not bias treatment to the clinic's own non-compliant commercial formulary. Yes, they can discharge you, and as said - we've seen it before, but it is grounds to complain to regulators, and that needs to be done if the clinic is to ever properly change its ways - I feel they need to be made an example of publicly by regulators.

After over a month, we're still trying to track down their actual clinic registration details. Script Assist claim they have no details on Medicann's "Health Inspectorate Scotland" registration (equivalent of England's CQC), and I've actually had two other different company's staff each out to us trying to find out where on earth they're actually registered. There's other huge regulatory complaints other companies have with them too, aside from what seems like straight 'prescription direction', and commercially-influencing prescribing – I won't speak to this more publicly for now.

I'd be slightly careful on this one, they've discharged people for requesting or demanding to use external pharmacies so its something you need to think about strongly before joining them, pros are you will have complete freedom to pick what you when required etc no THC limit / allowance however you will need to use their formulary (which is now quite good to be honest and only going to get better from here on)
I have huge issue with this statement, they have a very limited formulary compared to the amount of medications actually legally available - excusing their behaviour, and just telling others to avoid if they want proper regulatory compliance is infact something that needs to be heavily fought against. Bluntly, patients shouldn't be accepting their bullshit whatsoever.

We have sent complaints to Medicann already, detailing regulatory issues, but are yet to receive any response so far.

There's good reason we wear a red warning on their listing.

Nailed it - the whole practice is completely non-compliant - no medical treatment service/clinic should ever be treated as a marketing funnel to bias prescribing and selling medication at a particular pharmacy.
