LOL you might be onto something there. I'm in two minds because I don't want to take the piss but equally the only reason I even ordered the cherry triumph is because it was a bargain so maybe I should just chance my arm on jar of something fancy and see if they are feeling kind 🙏😂

He got a 90g default limit.
It therefore seems there has been a change in these limits. I recently requested an increase and the first advice the doctor gave was to try oils and vapes rather than to immediately increase. Whilst maybe not what I wanted, this was good medical advice.

Tldr: They changed things recently. You should have a consultation a month after signing, you need to book this yourself. You cannot get a limit increase by just messaging customer service. You can ask then.

Sorry I’m late to this but did you have any luck getting them to increase your limit after recommending alternatives first? I’m only two weeks in but was close to hitting my limit of 90 already, so booked the follow up earlier and pretty much got told the same thing; try oils and take a tolerance break to make it last lol - ordered some oil as recommended along with my last flower allowance, but wondering whether to email and still request an increase in the politest way possible as I know I’m gonna need it (especially as one of the last ones I got was totally ineffective), or whether that might just be a non starter and seem like a pisstake after today’s call

I took the advice politely and went and bought BM flower instead.
This is a new thing. People previously just messaged and their limit got increased.
Certain streamers have signed up recently to Medicann and been given 150g limits without issues according to them.

To be made to beg for medication just isnt my style and telling people to take tollerance breaks is bordering on taking the piss.
I am not a medical professional however, just a cannabis consumer of 30years. I dont know what things they have to jump through. I think this is an Integro thing. Also I am not sure the individual you or I was speaking to was a prescribing doctor. That is Dr Sunny. The people you speak to never make their medical credentials known in any way which leads me to believe they have none.
I would be interested to hear other peoples input on this?

At that point I was convinced they were just working from a script. The fact you have had near identical conversations makes me think that even more.

From what I understand there's some framework behind the 90g max for certain conditions. When I was Alternaleaf the doc told me that mental health patients can't go above 90g without good reason that also needs to be approved by MDT. According to them there are adverse mental health risks when you start getting above 90g. Which I would probably agree with on the basis that there's also likely something else going on that cannabis isn't going to solve by itself.

I'm one person but as someone who had been hitting 100g monthly at points over the last 6 months, I was heavily masking for things in my life that needed a different kind of help, otherwise I was unheathily using cannabis to bury my pain. Now I've got those issues resolved I am using less.

I believe their stance, as you've experienced is that 90g should be enough and if it isn't then tolerance needs to be looked at. It's sound advice that should be true for most people, whether its applicable is a different story but I get it completely.

For pain patients I believe the threshold is higher.

Now with all that said I'm a mental health patient and I have a 250g limit. The most I've ever ordered in a month is 160g and that was due to 5 or 6 packs being awful rather than needing the amount.

To me it seems like those who signed up in the early days still have fairly loose limits, then they had some fuss made by other clinics regarding their prescribing practices, those that came in after this point seem to be hit with rather "strict" limits and the ordering process appears to fall more in line with what Integro like to usually do.

RE Cannabis oils, they work 2 ways. via your liver which is the edible issue I also struggle with. I need 200mg to feel anything. and the 2nd way is via your blood stream. The idea is you hold it under your tongue and it gets into your blood stream via your mucous membrane, bypassing the need for your liver to metabolise. It's a faster onset and typically more manageable to dose. - obviously you'll swallow a lot of it that will go to the liver but I think that bit is unavoidable. That's likely why they kept pushing oils despite your liver push back.

Yes that's what I have surmised, daft that they aren't transparent about limits. I'm a pain patient, mostly. They told me on sign up last year that I could have what I needed as long as I didn't go mad, too late I said 8)

So likely on an individual basis too, with some sort of mystery framework as you say. All clinics seem to be tightening up prescribing processes owing to media and regulatory interest, so there could be more change for those prescribed for mental health reasons, perhaps in the hope of escaping regulatory action.

I fear you are right but in a negative light - there is more to come, without getting political I think we're going to be used as smear campaigns for general elections and in turn I think that's going to affect legislation depending on where the public put their vote. I have an awful feeling we are living in what will be the "good old days" in regards to MC.

I don't think the smear stuff will have a long term effect, there's too much heavy instability in the news for much traction to occur. I hope so anyway. Though my pragmatic self has built up a nice MC buffer just in case.

Having just 'discovered' the medical scene in person I do hope not! I've just had to reply to a guy that I 'didn't want to see him' (lol :D) this weekend again, and had to reply to a mate that I wouldn't be seeing 'that' guy this weekend without burning bridges as I go, my hope is that things remain as they are. 🤞 🤞

Thanks for the comments about limits.Just trying to share what I knew and the fact I have never spoken to a doctor at medicann and all I speak to is HCP (Health care proffessionals) with no discernable qualifications.
I have worked in heavily regulated industries before and the MC industry is just that an industry. It is pretending to be health care providers and it is the industry, not the patients that needs to sharpen up.

Thanks for a proper explanation of the science. This is what I would be looking for from a real health care proffessional not just a blank silence then a repetition to buy a £70 bottle of oil.

absolutely mate, having worked in customer service I came off that call certain it was scripted/tick box exercise and my request for an increase was similar to someone asking persil for a replacement box rather than a voucher lol! I have bought the cheapest oil to show compliance but am still in two minds whether to email them and politely ask whether it could still be increased slightly 🤔 to be honest the tolerance break comment did piss me off especially as it was clearly read from a prompt - if only it were that bloody simple lol! I do completely understand why they approach it that way, especially as I’m literally 2 weeks in with them rn, as much as no push back would have been great for my situation it def does show a degree of responsibility. From what I’ve read tho people seem to have had pretty good/responsive interactions with medicann via email so I feel it might be worth a shot, just don’t want to end up pissing them off while trying get an actual allowance of meds that works for my needs, otherwise it’s back to bm for the next 2 weeks while I wait for my allowance to reset (which also falls on a day I’m bloody away lol)

They will always try to help as best they can and whilst I am bumping my gums, I understand there are rules.
Give them a message and keep us updated. Once you get it sorted it will be fixed for the future!

Thank you so much - really appreciate the insight! Yeah I think I will and just pray that all goes well haha, will update here once I get a response! Like you say I completely understand and respect there are rules so don’t wanna step on their toes being pushy, and not after a ridiculous increase but don’t wanna have to resort back to bm just to get through lol
