The Food Thread: What's Being Munched? 🍴

You can have him, stinking the house out with herbs and spices ,don't know what they teach them at Uni ,but he eats anything spiced up, Korean ,Japanese ,indian he's the complete opposite of me in that way, minimum 3 meals a day ,definitely loves his tucker.
He'd eat octopus and stuff ,not for me
Only bonus for me is he often makes his mums tea ,which lightens the load a bit for me .
Sense of adventure is fantastic mate. How did he do at the interview? When is he going to hear?

They told him by the end of last week he'd hear but nothing ,so he's applied to the civil service ,HMRC and ONS ,needs something data analysing or stats orientated or he's going to end up in the finance stuff however low down he starts.
Cheers for asking (y)

I have a load of diced beef needing to be used today, brined and seasoned it a few hours ago. Going to sear in dripping, then dump on an oven tray with diced peppers, green beans and diced potato - some rosemary, thyme, cumin seeds and pine nuts too.

No onion, garlic etc, because woofer boy will share the leftovers 😅 A lazy but fairly healthy meal I hope.

I think you’d enjoy Rukmini Iyers cook books if you don’t already know them

This really hit the mark, actually struggled to leave anything for the dog 😇

Not letting her see that 😅 or I'll be sent to the drive through.
Never noticed the double burger deal but I must admit the thing I enjoy at McD's is the chocolate milk shake ,I'll pick them a Mcd's up with a choco milkshake for myself and grab a chippy on the way back.

Enjoy ,I find when your £13 hungry you wont even taste it(y)

P.S. I'll even scrape the cheese of the burgers :giggle: if I brave one
P.P.S. where does a gherkin sit in the dogs and onions thingy because my non scavenging dog craves them and breaks decorum when there about?

Think it's a delivery-only deal, but helps with cost - I never order drinks if I have something here. I do love McD's milkshakes but don't think I've had one in years, becomes a bit much for me on-top of their food 😅

I just munched down all three burgers, beyond saving a bit of QP for the woofer 😁

I actually normally order burgers without cheese, just couldn't edit the deal - and wanted to try the new chilli double cheese as it came.

Gherkins 100% fine, though they're like marmite to dogs. Some of mine have loved, others hate 🤣 Same goes for cucumbers in general.

Some fantastic food being muched here. 👅😝

@GrownHealth you laugh its worked for me and very well for a couple of italian mates. Also your lad learning to cook, tell him its going to help, proven lol

Reason I never learnt to cook was to protect myself from the female of the species but as luck would have it she liked chippy chips :ROFLMAO:
I don't doubt it works who wouldn't want to be wined and dined ,just got me grinning after McD's being posted then your post.

So tonight I have a couple of chicken breasts and a pot of sour cream to use up. Thinking I'm going to fry up onions, garlic and diced peppers in lard, with some toasted spices - cumin, fennel, caraway, cardamom, fenugreek etc, and a bay leaf or two.

Will sear the meat diced, chuck it on an oven tray until cooked through, then dump into the rest and build up a sauce from the sour cream, bouillon, masala, miso, garlic paste, lemon juice, worcester sauce, and some chopped coriander and basil - then serve with pilau rice.

Wish I had some decent bread in, can't be bothered with going through the effort of making something fresh.

Every time you post I read and immediately veganise the recipe in my brain so I can give it a go.

I’ve been hankering for something creamy and leeky and might have to grab some dried wild mushrooms to use in it. Thanks for the idea!

If I were trying to cook this vegan, I'd simply fry off my mushrooms before adding the rest of the veg. I once heard a chef say "mushrooms can't be overcooked" - and while that's not quite literally true, always feel they can withstand as much cooking as dense protein.

Actually wish I had some leek left here, I'd have substituted most of the onion for it. With anything vegan I feel cream can be the hardest thing to replicate healthily, so many brands seem to just try use seed oil blends with emulsifiers.

Recipe could probably accommodate tofu easily too! Or at least a lot more miso in lieu of meat.
