Were you out in Town that time? Few of us used to go to Venue, Brickhouse + couple of others.

also went to 5th avenue, the banshee a few times and bowlers a lot and sequins lol, my mates would go isidora's and that ,years later we'd go Sankeys but never liked town 
Main clubbing was the orbit near Leeds for the best part of ten years in the 90's

Iconic Manchester nightclub closed down for good
The club 'surrendered its licence' in November last year
Sankeys I liked but wow you had to be careful there, gangsters place from what I remember.
Yes Sankey's was like the orbit for music policy but like you say shady where as the orbit you could have your guard down and never any bother .I remember lovely doorman called Theo on the door at brickhouse - well connected lets say.
