Still Deciding
Hey, so I want to try to find out if other people can relate to my experience. I'm an ex-smoker of both tobacco and cannabis. I've not used cannabis for a long time but I've rediscovered it through a prescription after developing a chronic health condition. I've been using sublingual oil, and flower vaporised through an old vaporiser that I bought years ago. My old vaporiser finally broke after 10 years, so I went to buy a new one. I've tried two so far - a cheap one and a more expensive one - and both just produce smoke. It's like smoking a pipe. My old device never did this - the taste was clean and fresh, the high pleasant and mild.
What gives? Is this just how modern vaporisers are? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for reading.

From one device to another the sweet spot can be different so as suggested above start low and incrementally step it up by a couple of degrees until you find the spot where it's vapor rather than combustion and on my device (mighty) 180-184 degrees is the sweet spot for me so as an example if you had the mighty I'd start at 165 and keep stepping it up to you find it suitable .

I tend to go up in temp over the session, so start at say 180 and then go up to 205 (I don't go higher to avoid the toasted taste)

Think of it like squeezing toothpaste out progressively

Thanks everyone for replying. I realise I should have been a bit clearer - none of the devices I've used have had an incremental temperature setting - they've all just been "low, medium, high." The problems with burning have been on the lowest available temp settings.
I realise that what I need is granular temp control, so I've sprung for one that has that. The most recent company I've had problems with assured me that it must just be a defective unit, so I've sent the device back for a refund. New one arriving tomorrow, so hopefully things'll be stable again soon.

I'm always chasing clouds of smoke I wish I had this problem
solo 3 half filled glass chamber (pushed down to make it compact up to half way, not loose , half way and push down) at around 220. on demand setting. one large slow inhale

you;ll have clouds

I'm using the solo 2 fully filled but I let it heat soak with the flower in it for about 2 mins at 220 before I rip it to get max clouds lol (Makes a big difference gotta try it my bong gets fully creamed out not your usual wispy smoke its closer to the results you get with a decent ball vape) get about 4-6 good hits out it then its charcoaled (material at the top atleast) think the solo 3 has a larger chamber and better heating element though so you should get even better results 🔥

New device is excellent for me - granular control, able to set for no or minimal exhale.

Really interesting to hear how different other people's tastes are. I think I'm getting most benefit from the cannabinoids that evaporate at lower end of the temperature spectrum. It's remarkable how both the flavour and the effect of the dose changes at different temps. I think that 155 - 165 is the sweet spot for me, just before the taste starts to get a bit more nutty and dark. From 170 - 200, the taste is progressively more like toasted hempseed and less like fresh cannabis flower, and the psychological effects are more intoxicating. At lower temperatures, physical symptom relief is effective, and the psychological effect is bright, clear, and energetic. I guess the first compounds to evaporate are the flavour terpenes and then THC, and the higher you go the more CBD you extract, leading to a sleepier effect. I sounds like others are benefitting most from quite a different approach.

It's really amazing to hear about how so many people are benefitting from this in so many different ways.

Yes everyone seems to be different with this - I know other people who just whack it straight on a high temp, it really comes down to what suits you

Glad you've got things how you want them now
