Yes, you should pretty much always decarb cannabis flower before cooking or infusing it.
Sun sounds like a bad idea to me - it's heat that causes cannabis to decarboxylate (removing carboxyl groups from various compounds to convert them into their active therapeutic forms), not light. The Sun won't give you anywhere near enough heat, and different aspects of the light like UV can cause the compounds to break down and degrade in other ways.
Better to stick it in the oven to decarb, then mix it with alcohol (the higher proof the better, you may not get the best results with regular 40% spirits), and let it sit in a cool dark place for a few weeks, shaking it periodically, before filtering it through a cheese cloth and bottling it.
Although I have to say that mixing what is probably the world's safest and most therapeutic drug with the world's most dangerous and most damaging drug rubs me up the wrong way a little, generally goes against your prescription recommendation and it can be expensive to get a high proof alcohol.
I prefer infusing to MCT oil for cooking/baking/making gummies with, or if you make it potent enough you can use the oil as a tincture instead which is closer to what pharmacies sell in the form of their own oils.
But even that comes with the risks associated with saturated fat intake and excess calories. I think vaping is really the only risk-free way of consuming cannabis! Everything else has its pitfalls.
