Hi lovely beings, I'm an older girl, who is new to medical cannabis. I've had to rely on bm bud in the past.
I'm just waiting for my first app with a doctor at Alternaleaf. I need a daytime flower and a night one, but am clueless as what would be best to ask the doctor for. I have a lot of pain most of the time, so really want it for that.
I'd be most grateful for any advice please?

Well you picked a good clinic, as for flowers start low and see how you go, and it's not necessarily the more it costs the better the product

Thank you, I'm confused as to what you mean start low? Is there somewhere on here, that says which are daytime and night?

Thank you so much 😊
Your Welcome. Depending on your health conditions and how they effect you from day to day the doctors will prescribe you with the appropriate Cannabis medication. You may be prescribed flower/oils/vape carts or pastilles. If you smoke Cannabis you'll be advised to vape your flower if that is your prefered intake (inhalation) you can't be expected just to quit from joints, it takes time to change over to getting use to vaping, it took me coming on 12mths.

There are what we call daytime strains and strains for nighttime.

Thank you, I'm just using a pipe with just bud in it. I've bought a vape and started using it yesterday. I have chronic lyme and COPD and ptsd. I only want flower, not into edibles or carts.
So the doctor decides the first time?

Sativa's are usually used during daytime and Indica strains for night time
They can be used anytime really,

No, if you want flower ask for it, if you look on here you'll see the Flower ranges that are available. Your clinic should have a formulary that you can choose from and that would be the best place to start and look for flower that's worked for you in the past and let your doc know when having your Consultation, pick a few strains that have worked for you.

Thanks, that's great advice. I really appreciate this. I'm going to have to educate myself properly on the MC, it's all new to me. It's like the 70s when you could choose what weed you want 😁 these days with bm it's take what's there. Again, thank you so much.

Yeah take it or leave it, we have all been there You've made the right decision getting onboard to the MC Journey, I hope you enjoy it. If you look under clinics on here and pick out your clinic, look for their Pharmacy on that page, click on it and then it should pop up what Cannabis Medications and pricing, what they have available. Pick some out and talk with the your Consultant.

Hi Suzy, I hope your medical cannabis journey is a successful one. I treat for chronic pain and have found most strains from Aurora® and Sundaze® usually get the job done for me :)

Hi welcome to the forum :) I have been impressed with both pain specialists I have seen at Alternaleaf, they are knowledgable, understanding, and you are in good hands imo. I find different strains work better for different things. What sort of pain are you dealing with? Depending on the type of pain, and cause, different strains and strengths may be appropriate. For what it’s worth, Chemango kush and gelonade I have found excellent for the electric shock, cold shivers, sharp stabbing type nerve pains. Whereas white runtz is my best for tension, aching, inflammatory type symptoms. It must be noted that everyone is different, their pain, and their endocannabinoid systems are unique, so what works for one person may not work or have the same effects for someone else. For example people raved about the death bubba, for me it barely does anything. Honestly it may take some trial and error, I have tried maybe 20 strains on medical, they all mostly help, and two or thee are fantastic, so it’s worth being persistent on the search. Don’t settle for some relief, if you respond to cannabis, keep searching until you find ‘the one’ then hope that it stays in stock. Honestly the biggest piece of advice I think is trust the doctors/clinicians, it’s not like the NHS where you almost have to hide cannabis use, the more open you can be with them the better. If any strains have been effective in the past, or even characteristics such as smell, taste, uplifting, sedating, these can all help us or the clinicians narrow it down to what might work for you. Peace
