What Grinder Would You Recommend?

Just a heads up to anyone repping the Flower Mill 2.0 Premium models (not the standard).

There have been several recent reports from members of the Vaporents community and elsewhere that the steel plate eventually rubs on the aliminium and causes shavings. This could be user error but given the 2.0 exists because of shaving issues with the 1.0 I would be wary and checking it frequently.

If you own the standard aliminium model without changeable plates then I believe you're okay as the issue appears to be caused by the harder metal (steel) rubbing against the softer metal (aliminium) and the standard version has no steel.

@Lank72 you have one of these right? I don't want to add to your woes but please keep an eye on yours!

Another grinder that's let me down (kinda expected but this was quick!)

I picked up a Cournot grinder off Ali Express for £9 and its fucked me off an insane amount.

The produced grind is genuinely fantastic and it makes sense given its a clone of the SCS in terms of teeth.

The problem however, and its a massive fucking problem is that literally from the first turn on the first grind the anti-stick coating started shedding into the flower. I tried to remove it all and carry on but it just finds a way to shed from somewhere new. I was genuinely impressed with this but then they had to go and ruin it all.

If you're ever looking at chinese grinders just be a little careful. SS models will often be contaminated with lead and other metals and many aliminuim grinders, like this one can be a risk to your health.

Pink Herb Shredder - Dragon Puff (white label grinder I believe).

If you're someone who buys hemp grinders like the SCS version then check this out. It's a little cheaper, has the same teeth and for me at least has been a nice option to have around. It does gunk up after a few g is put through it as you'd probably expect but for a non-plastic hemp grinder this does the job brilliantly. I got mine from Amazon for £8 and now I use it exclusively for CBD flower.

Thanks for the post!

I have the OG large swop plates Mill and a small fixed, I don't use them much after I discovered the Aroma 3 as that will chop anything with little hand effort.

With these mills I think the issue is mainly user error, using anything but the lightest of hand pressure with a mill results in some metal to metal friction and that's been the case through all the versions for some years now.

Don't overload them, don't press down more than a very light touch, let the mill do the work. I never had any metal dust issues.

And don't even consider using plastic or acrylic grinders!

I'm inclined to agree with you without owning the SS one myself. I didn't realise the SS version didn't have a plastic O-ring like the standard does. that feels like the fix for this for all but what do i know. I'm sure there's a reason they didn't do it.

idk if this helps anyone with grind technique on the mill, but give the bottom plate is what actually breaks the bud up, I gently push up and twist from the bottom rather than the top, seems to minimise the pressure and still get good grind results.

I see there's a few new copy cats of the Aroma 3, Troy and Jerry had a video on it yesterday, it looks good but less fun although it's only $100.

After my recent grinder purchases my mrs told me to go straight to end game and get a SS BCG or a Aroma 3. I think they're wonderful but at what point does the pricing start to show diminishing returns. I know its a buy for life but the aforementioned SS Flower Mill is only like £80 and that's a but for life type deal, is the Aroma 3/BCG producing a £40-£50 better grind? - Better experience for sure, but better grind?

In the end I opted for 2x Odin grinders. one of them SS and threadless, the other Gun Metal Aluminum and threadless. Works out about £140 inc shipping and tax. So about the same money as the Aroma 3/BCG but I figure the Gun Metal grinder at $25 would beat any grinder I could pay that for on Amazon, etc. so its a worthwhile back up to my basic flower mill imo.

I do really want a CH 3 piece grinder but that might just be because of SmackSalad to be honest.

SNIP
I doubt it! But for me it beats all the rest and I've had many many and none 8)

Aroma 3 uses a swoppable skateboard bearing, sealed. I replaced the original with a sealed ceramic bearing. Zero metal to metal contact in the grinder body, anywhere. Adjusting the bearing hight adjusts the gap between teeth so you can dial in a somewhat rougher grind if required.

For the first 1- 2 part turns a little hand pressure is required, then it just spins freely, whoosh, great for my pained hands, it does not need a clean as often as other types, had mine a year and not cleaned it, not sticky, zero jamming.

It just works. Also useful for defending against armed wombats, I wouldn't like to be hit by a flying Aroma!

Mornings OB. Is a rougher grind more the norm and desirable in terms of grind lvl for let's say a D'Vinci iQ3? Or, is it preference and subjective again?

Too many variables to say, whatever suits you, your herb and device works best 8)

It does look fun as hell! if I hadn't just spent 3k on finding the cat I would probably me a little more carefree with paying for one. Just for the fidget spinning at work its probably a great investment lol. It's a lovely bit of kit, I wonder how many more will flood the market now its been popular for a few years.

Aroma 3 for the fidget spin alone! I wonder how that would go down at my work me wandering about constantly spinning the god dame grinder ting-a-ling?

I may start using it to build up my atrophied arm muscles! It's heavy ... not particularly portable 8)

Mine is fully stainless steel, including the plates so I don't think it will be an issue for me, plus I use it as intended with no top to bottom pressure and just circulating and letting the action do the work, but that for the heads up anyway 👍

There's spinny ones popping up lately! It might be in your future lol.

You use an electric grinder at the moment don't you? Or is the one you shared the other day just one you like?

My cat that went missing, spent a fortune on gear looking for her! I swear you commented on the picture of her but in case you didn't here's the little cutie!

Pleased to hear it mate! - Hopefully its not a proper issue for most people but it'll be a shame if it is. I know people who have spent well over £150 with them on the 1.0 and 2.0 so it would suck for that to go to waste.

Hand motor function involves complex, coordinated movements driven by 34 muscles (intrinsic for precision, extrinsic for strength) acting on joints, primarily enabling grasping, manipulation, and tactile exploration and The Aroma 3.0 will provide this fact!
