The response I got from HR says the company has a strict no drug policy
But as far as im aware this is not a drug and its classed as a medication.

My last job I was driving a forklift and after checking they put me back on the forklift. This current job is just line work in a factory. I dont understand the difference. I also drive hgvs for agencies sometimes and the agencies Im with allow me to use medical cannabis.

The thing to resolve is the definition of the word "drugs". I would assume they mean illegal drugs otherwise you can't take paracetamol to work, or prescribed opiates.

Exactly that. It’s not an illicit or recreational drug and therefore that policy doesn’t apply.

They wouldn’t stop someone taking co-codamol.

Theres a big sign on the door that says all medications should be kept in lockers. When I queried HR about it they said its for people who need medication like epipens in emergencies.

Does anyone know a solicitor who deals with these things? The same job says they are a disabilty confident employer but have refused every single reasonable adjustment Ive asked for. And they were very reasonable nothing major.

I hope you are ok, that is not how anyone should be being treated with any prescribed meds. They sound a bit nuts if they are locking away EpiPens. I’ve asked DeepSeek to compose a response covering legal bits, It may help, even if you don’t use it.

Don't just AI this stuff, get actual legal help. They're clearly discriminating against you, and as soon as there will be the slightest chance of a financial penalty for them as a result, they will suddenly shit themselves and be the nicest employer, as no one wants to get sued.

Talk to https://www.patientprotect.co.uk/ and
https://canncare.uk/ , go to Citizens Advice, etc.

MAKE THEM SQUIRM! You can't lose this, there's the Equality act and all that. The letter of the law says YOU ARE RIGHT!

For once, the law is helping MC users, let's use it then and not let the dumb sociopaths win!

"Reasonable adjustments – Employers are required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled employees. Allowing you to use prescribed medication at work (or providing a suitable alternative arrangement, such as a private space for administration) could be considered a reasonable adjustment, provided it does not create undue hardship for the business."

They are REQUIRED TO. It's not a choice or a kind suggestion. Have you contacted the DWP as well, do you have official paper trail for the disability, etc? Again, the law says they have to do all this.

@GreenRed sorry I wasn’t clear and as a disclaimer I should have added it is always best to take legal advice over AI. The AI info was to try and summarise all of the legal requirements, legal advise would be the correct recommendation as you say and the legal position is 100% clear.

If MedBud is still looking to sell advertising space, no win no fee solicitors should be consulted as they are going to get a lot of customers from the MC community going through the same issues.

They're only required to if the adjustment is also reasonable on their end. It can't be reasonable for the employee but I unreasonable for the employer.

Its a commonly used defence for making any kind of expensive reasonable adjustment.

None of that really applies here though.

@eeze95, first port of call should be your clinic, they see this shit every day and now how to make employers listen fast. I would say join a union as well but they can't help with this now as it's already an issue.

Been quite low about the whole thing to be honest. That is brilliant mate

Every reasonable adjustment Ive asked for has been denied. They claim to be a disability confident employer too. Ive never worked for a company where they lie to your face. This is crazy.
