I wanted to give an update with how I got on using my prize from MedBud the Pax 4 vaporiser.

Firstly I have never had a dry herb vaporiser before and the cost of a new device had been a barrier to me.

I wanted to use the device as a way to stop me purchasing tobacco. Currently price are almost £50 for a 50g pack of tobacco which lasts about a week and a half. In addition I have always combusted flower so this was a fairly major departure to what has been a routine/habit for most of my life.

I decided to invest some left over amazon vouchers in accessories to help me maintain the new product. Picking myself up a new grinder, some isopropyl alcohol. A puck press and some additional screen and a cleaning brush.

All of this meant that I was sitting there with all of the gear yet no idea still so I set off on my journey.

It started off with the usual teething problems that come with a new device with me unsure how it all functioned however within a hour I had figured it all out and worked out how to charge the device. I was using an Iphone charger to charge the PAX which did not work and this was resolved by using the charger they had provided instead.

I started off with pure intentions to only use the PAX and that went well to begin with. Using a vape cuts down on flower usage and getting used to the whole routine of preparing the PAX was not a great interruption to me.

I have a plan to get myself a dog very soon and the weekly savings mean I can budget for that longterm now.

The device itself is great so far. I have got my own preferences for taste etc set up. I started off wanting muchos vapor! Which the device can provide however I quickly noticed that I wasnt getting the most out of the flower so found my preferred setting.
It has a double toasty oven to help in vape evenly. It loads easily from the bottom and the puck i bought makes really nice consistent blocks that just drop in like im some sort of expert. The airflow is restricted compared to a mighty and although I dont have much to compare it to, I had to use the additional mouthpiece provided due to a palsy I had making the attachment it comes with not good for me. Once I did that I was happily tooting away.

I have my own self discipline to work on though.
I still have the issue in my head that when I get a particularly nice bit of flower that I think, “I must try this in a joint”. This isnt helped by reviewers and streamers stating “Tastes much better in the smoke”

Again useful and valid information and down to my self discipline to not believe that I need to go and test this out. I have been smoking this way for almost 30 years so habits are very much ingrained.

Honestly though the best things I can do is to keep coming back to the PAX as each time I do it reminds me that there is an alternative. Better in many ways and that with a small bit of effort and a will to change that I don’t have to be a slave to habit.

Positives: Health, Money saving, Flower Consumption, Full medical compliance

Negatives: Routine, AVB faffing about to unlock what you havent used, Battery life 4/5 uses before recharge

Great review, so glad it helps you! I had the original Pax years ago, couldn't get on with it, like sucking casserole through a straw. I guess airflow is better these days?

Yes the airflow is good. I have a friend with a mighty and he preferred the Pax as you can "Toot" on it more than get a whoosh from the mighty. I just have to use the raised mouthpiece rather than the flat one that it comes with.
It all comes through the central pipe you can see in pic that is direct to oven. Makes it easier to clean through with a wire brush too.
