Clinic
Still Deciding
Medicann launched in the UK at end of July, I joined them and here’s my experience so far;
completed application via the app, easy to use and uploaded medical documents.
Missed a call from them around lunchtime the following day and then had a comfortable chat with assessor the day after. We discussed medical conditions, if had used cannabis before, how it helped me ect. Lady was lovely, felt no judgement as if I was talking to family. I know I’m overqualified for a prescription so didn’t worry about approval.
I have nothing to compare my experience with, I’m new to being a medical cannabis patient because I refuse to pay any industry to erm allow me to use cannabis and I read sooo many mixed reviews. I waited patiently for a clinic with zero fees and along came Medicann.
I did wonder if there was a catch, but they have clinics in other countries and say they’re award winning. Surely a clinic wouldn’t launch and not have a good business model, bad reviews by social media would plummet them.
So I’ve given them a chance and I am very very critical, have access to a long list of top quality perfectly cultivated BM strains.

I had my appointment with the Dr the day after my chat with the assessor, He was also lovely and it felt like a chat with my cool uncle. He approved my prescription and said I could access the pharmacy within 24 hours but I’m still waiting for it to be processed and can’t order anything.
I was told that they use their own pharmacy and can select what I want and that they would monitor my orders instead of setting an amount. Each patient could be different though, I assume ppl with no experience would be advised ect, he knew I was very informed.
Overall a quick and easy process, very relaxed and surreal as a new patient.
Just need to see the menu and receive a prescription.

Welcome @BettysBakes420 and thanks for sharing your experience with us and I'm sure others will be eager to see how they perform as they get up and running on the mainland ,also I notice IPS are the default pharmacy so I've put their live formulary below and at the bottom of the formulary you will see tabs for flower to be ordered and oils and other products also ,hope this helps (y)
Once again welcome @BettysBakes420
IPS Formulary

IPS Formulary
You'll probably know more than me on this but I have read a couple of different comments around stating that Medicann aren't using the full IPS Formulary and are restricted to <15 strains.

I'm really curious about switching to them but I want clarity on the formulary before I give it serious consideration, especially with Cannabis Clinic Cardiff also in consideration.

We'll see what we can find out because <15 strains off IPS's formulary would be super restrictive considering how many strains are on there:(

I'm hoping it's just nonsense by the usual Reddit crowds.

A comment i read mentioned them alongside Releaf and Dispensed so I'm half hoping they've got Dispensed and Medicann confused.

Any insight you get your hands on would be nice appreciated though.

@BettysBakes420, first up, Welcome! Glad to see another new face! I appreciate you're new so this may be a difficult question to answer but was there a large range of flower/product to discuss and choose from?

I’m having technical issues with the App, hopefully it will be sorted on Monday and I will update you on their available products.
I asked the assessor what pharmacy they used, mentioned I’d read on MedBud that it said they used IPS and she said no we use are own pharmacy. I’d spent a lot of time researching pharmacies here and saw no Medicann pharmacy. The pharmacy listed on app says VPR.
The doctor said he’d opened up access to the pharmacy, I can choose what I want and purchase will be monitored. He said access will be available within 2-24hours but it was
done shortly before closing on Friday and I can’t access it.
If I do see limited availability I will be disappointed and contact them to provide feedback and query their future business model.
If the rumours are true, maybe they just have a limited choice for the first month and will expand this later on.
Reading here that they used IPS did influence my choice, hopefully all will be well tomorrow

Ah that makes sense a bit more to me now as I've just received my invoice from VPR (Vertical Pharma Resources Ltd.)which indeed was from IPS Pharma so it does seem to be the right formulary but time will tell.🤞

Thank you for sharing. Hopefully the app access makes this clearer on Monday.

I am super curious about these guys so I hope you do share your experiences with us as your journey continues.

Outside of strain access, I am intrigued by their prescribing methods. I like the idea of uncapped scripts but in reality I'm more interested in the turnaround times of these ad-hoc requests and how they scrutinise heavy usage.

Out the gate if I moved I would be using 90g per month but when I travel for work it could be 70g and during flare ups it could be 120g. I wonder how they would view this.

Either way, I really appreciate you sharing your experiences and I hope we see more of them.

Than you! I’m very curious too.
Dr said once I have access to the clinic I “can choose what u want, try different strains and work out what works best for you.”
I asked “is there a set amount prescribed per week/month?”
Dr said “no, of course if we noticed you going nuts we would say something.” He didn’t say how much nuts is,
He compared prescribing to how diabetics need insulin ‘when’ they need it and not a measured amount, therefore patients should be able to use cannabis when they need it and every patient is different.
I said I use around 8g per week minimum and more in the winter/flare ups. He said that’s average and seemed quite relaxed and understanding of different patients needs.

I don’t think 90g a month is a lot, they must consider all the varying facts of each patient. They also want to make money too!

I will update you all tomorrow, thank you for the warm welcome:)

Ah you know what, I'm convinced.

Gonna submit my info to them tonight and hopefully learn some bits about them next week

One can only imagine their phone lines/application process being somewhat busy !?
Well that's all part of the test I guess. I have a feeling a lot of existing patients won't transfer immediately.

I'm hoping they can handle it and not be another Alternaleaf situation but if they appear to be struggling then it only leaves Cannabis Clinic Cardiff in my future lol.

Super interested now to hear how you get on..

I'll definitely let you all know.

If anyone's got any specific questions let me know and I'll get them asked.

Exciting times for MC in the UK!
Not "what's the catch" but almost - how can they deal with instant demand ?
