Clinics Medicann UK

Apparently my access to the formulary has been suspended because I have two open mould reports and until these are resolved I cannot request new medication!?!?!?!

Not like it’s medicine I fucking need or anything????
That's utterly ridiculous, so basically if you report mould more than once you're potentially risking your access to the formulary 😳 With the way you have been treated I'd be looking for a different clinic.

Never mind a different clinic if it’s not resolved soon I will be seeking legal advice

@Muiredach Sorry to bother you but my access to the formulary has been suspended because I have two open mould reports/investigations, and I’m not sure what to do? Apparently access will be restored when they are resolved but that could be yonks, I’m already at 7 weeks on one with no sign of movement and only just reported the latest on the weekend. I don’t have an infinite stash of meds. Any ideas or advice at all? I can’t request any medication at all. Morally and ethically this is abhorrent of course but I’m unsure legally.

This is my personal opinion as a patient, and is not meant to be legal or medical advice

Unless you are over your allowance limit, even including / counting the mouldy meds, I cannot see any reasonable justification for effectively suspending your medical treatment / medication. Without any other explanation it appears almost like you are being treated as the 'problem' rather than the victim.

Even if this is legally allowable, every patient who sees this is going to start wondering about Medicann. If they have done it as some sort of damage control for money, even without any legal action I suspect this will cost them more in public relations / lost patients who may switch.

I think it's outrageous if intentional - have you had confirmation it is an intentional action and not some bug?

This is absolutely wrong mate and shouldn't be happening to any patient but in your position the first thing I would do is get another clinic with a responsible approach to problems asap before it starts to harm your wellbeing by having a lack of meds as I doubt the relationship is going to improve to a satisfactory outcome where you would feel a valued patient with them again if they are persevering with this stance.
I've seen these things dragged out before but never a patient denied access whilst the investigation is completed.

It is just crazy isn’t it?

Yes no doubt it is intentional.

“At the moment, your formulary is not showing available products because there are two active mould reports linked to your previous medication. Until these reports have been reviewed and formally closed, the system will not allow a new prescription to be submitted.
Once the investigations are completed and the reports are resolved, access to the formulary will be restored and you’ll be able to request further medication.”

I’m with you. I hate to jump to conclusions or think the worst but it very much does seem like I’m being hung out to dry with zero care at all for me or my health.

Appreciate that mate and you are right but my worry is if I simply jump ship there is no chance I get replacement medication and I can’t really afford to just chalk it to be honest. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and am a bit worried it’s by design. Part of me thinks it has to be some sort of error because it is so insane, but their emails seem quite clear

Shit, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It shows that there seems to be no patient contract of care, for any patient, that would allow us to have confidence in the continuity of supply and what patient and clinic should not do to avoid breaching any rules or standards. I have never signed or seen one...

hugs mate, take on the fight if you need to, but stay aware that it may hurt.

That is disgusting. I'm disgusted. Being starved of pain medication for daring to complain about dodgy items. Again, I don't know, but it sounds to me the kind of thing a doctor could get struck off for.

"The system will not allow it"

Systems works for people, if the system says no and people say yes, it's a bug and must be worked-around / fixed. If the system says no and people hide behind it then it's doing exactly what it was inteded to do and there's not even the decency to own up to it properly.

You will obviously make your own choices mate about jumping ship but I have to agree with @GrownHealth worrying about your health when you are effectively cut off like this. Even if it is a tactic on their part please think of your health first and foremost in any decision you make about this 🙏

Can you imagine,

Going to your GP and getting a presciption written, taking it to the likes of a Boots or a Numark pharmacy, getting sold dodgy stuff and complaining, and your GP going "well you're not getting any more of anything now"

What a load of toss!!! The system can get knotted!

Id book an appointment to speak to someone if possible? Tell them the craic and let them know the community here is waiting with baited breath.

Anyone with authority will surely see this is madness and overturn this crap already...if anything they need to realise we all want to see how this is handled.

I don’t know what I’d do if said i couldn’t have any meds I needed especially on days like today where it’s all too much… iv not been able to answer calls or sort the mail and just can’t stop crying and hurting physically and mentally I feel so lost I just want him here to talk to to be with me it’s not right he’s been taken from me I just want my dad 💔😢😢🤕

Thanks mate appreciate that 🙏it’s a sorry state of affairs isn’t it. I’m hoping it is some sort of bizarre mistake and I will wake up to an email apologising and clarifying things because denying access to medication without warning because of reporting mould is just lunacy. It’s the complete opposite of what they should be doing.

Madness isn’t it? I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt for the minute, perhaps there has been some misunderstanding or miscommunication and it can all be water under the bridge. But if it is intentional it’s truly mind boggling stuff.

Perfect example mate it’s exactly the same. It is medicine at the end of the day.

Is that possible? I didn’t know you can actually talk to people on the phone.

You would hope so but I believe management are involved already as crazy as that sounds!

I really dont know mucker but I would like to hope there's a way to contact them in emergencies to speak to someone???

If ye ask them via email for someone to call you even?? I know they seen reluctant to give out their direct phone numbers

I am 100% sure this is against regulation, and this being a strictly regulated space, there should be consequences and they should be AFRAID, not PUNISH.

If you believe a medical‑cannabis provider in the United Kingdom is acting outside the law or withholding prescribed medication without a legitimate clinical reason, there are several bodies you can contact for help and to raise a formal complaint

General Medical Council (GMC) – for doctorsHandles fitness‑to‑practice issues and professional misconduct by doctors. If a prescriber is acting improperly, you can lodge a complaint.• Online form: https://www.gmc-uk.org/concerns • Phone: 0161 923 0150
Police (Non‑Emergency 101)Withholding medication that is legally prescribed could constitute a criminal offence, especially if it involves controlled drugs.• Call 101 (non‑emergency) or your local police station.

I strongly suggest starting to strong arm them today, right now. All of these bullshitters are afraid of CONSEQUENCES. Attack, don't defend! Threaten, then report. Maybe even just report straight away, up to you.
New post automatically merged:

I find it interesting that you can actually report them to the police, as withholdings a prescription is a crime.

I'd definitely do most of these right away, in parallel. EFF this approach, Medicann. You deserve what might be coming.

Really sorry to read all this @williemed not what we expect to be seeing patients treated like  You can book appointments on the app, I believe this would be a call, it's only with clinic admin but that's a start, I'd be requesting an appointment as a matter of urgency with Dr Sunny, the Dr signs us up to Medicann and signs off our scripts so he needs to be involved too. Not resolving the mouldy weed situation after this amount of time is unacceptable but blocking access to Meds is a different level of Wrong. I'd also request a copy of the clinics terms and conditions/patient use agreement info. Hope Medicann fix you up and make up for the nonsense they're putting you through 🤞 🤞

Absolutely wild stuff mate.

Makes me a little ashamed to be a Medicann patient when you hear about some of their practices lately.

The only 'logical' thing my brain can come up with is that where you've had multiple reports they somehow think you're doing it on purpose. So they'll block you from ordering until they've had a complete investigation to either confirm/deny whether you're pushing it.

The problem with that though is that this is medication and the duty of care is massively missing.

That said Medicann and duty of care aren't things I've ever put together.
