Hello to all fellow users. This place is great, looking forward to interacting and sharing my opinions with you all when I finally get my first LEGAL🌻! WOOP WOOP! 🌞
But can anyone please help me today?
Got my first Dr appointment with Alteranleaf today at 2.15pm...
My issues are: Pain, sleep, depression and anxiety. All well documented in my medical records, so I'm not too worried about that.

What I am worried about is securing some decent flower which will help relieve my symptoms! I've just had a look on the Montu site and everything I had hoped to get, is either out of stock - or no new requests.
I'm looking for a good quality daytime strain that does not make me tired and a good knock out strain for at night.
My shortlist is now:
DoE - Jack Herer
Aurora® - Sourdough
Does this sound plausible? I have smoked on and off since the real summer of love 1989! But I recently had a tolerance break and gave up smoking altogether in Feb (just bought an XMAX V4 Pro to try vaping). Will the Dr consider my choices as too high in THC? Can I even choose what I want on my first script? Is 20g considered a lot for a first script? Just don't know what to expect really...

Any advice welcome! and sorry if I've posted in wrong place, can MOD please move my post if so?
 
Hi and welcome @SmokeySavage ! Lots of data and discussion about every product available from UK clinics/pharms right here.

If this is your first script with Alterna you will usually find that the Dr. will decide for you, thereafter you can select from the range offered to you, there may be THC level limits depending on age and experience.

Sourdough works very well for my pain, but does not put me too sleep, it used to!

Dont hesitate to ask questions in the strain ( cultivar) threads 8)
 
Welcome @SmokeySavage and good luck with your consultation but I'm sure you'll be fine from what you have said, regards asking for 20g this is actually a low amount and gives you no room for if a strain doesn't really work for you so if funds allow it then it could be worth asking for a higher amount then 20g especially as you find your way with strains on Medical Cannabis.
 
Hi, thanks, good advice but funds are pretty tight...unfortunately! Bit like kid in a sweet shop time 😁 I thought it best to go for "quality" rather than quantity, otherwise I'll just end up consuming more if it's low potency stuff.
I'm looking specifically at terp profiles but much of what I like the sound of (and has decent reviews) is high THC.
Like OldBloke said though, looks like I won't get a choice this time round and I've not been a very heavy user in recent years, managed to stretch half OZ of black market (top shelf ) per month (most months)

Hi Wilbury, no didn't see the post, still learning how to navigate the site. How does it work if Dr prescribes something which is out of stock? I can see a lot is now out of stock, viewing Montu now as we speak...
 
Never had that problem in over 5yrs. They only prescribe what's available, once they hit that button it's off the system and basically yours once you've paid for it..

That's good to know...but I meant in future months. I mean, if I'm prescribed something today and it works well for me and then it's out of stock going forward?
It appears Montu has serious stock issues and I'm already starting to regret choosing Alterna. but I do worry too much! 😉

Hi Smokey and welcome to the forums. Useful strains going OOS is a continual problem across all of the pharmacies. Montu is pretty well stocked and have their partnered brands. IPS probably have the widest range and also have their partnered brands. Clinics 'should' let you use any clinic but in reality most make it too difficult and awkward or just outright block. I find it useful to build up a stock of useful strains and then I'm not panicking when it's prescription time

You're shit outta luck if it goes OOS. it's not just an Alternaleaf issue btw, they're by far the biggest pharmacy.

The whole community has been struggling for years and the only consistency comes via Curaleaf, which lets just say leave a lot to be desired.

Alternaleaf/Montu look like they have stock issues but they'll be the same as everyone else. I've been with CB1 Medical, Wellfords, Alternaleaf, Medicann and now Cannabis Clinic Cardiff. Aside from some admin issues and a preferred dr leaving Alternaleaf were largely brilliant.

Quick side note, are you aware of the rules and regs around dry herb vaping and how smoking can invalidate your script? idgaf how people consume their meds but some authorities do. Given you're brand new to MC I thought id mention it just incase you aren't aware.

I am aware, thanks J.A. I quit smoking and will be vaping, but last time I tried, I really didn't get on with it. Felt like the effects were seriously muted compared to smoking. That was using a Nectar Platinum, tried a Pax and wasn't much better. I have just got an Xmax V4 pro to get me going and will upgrade to Venty asap👍

Any "Brands" I should avoid, Nugget? Upstate, Curaleaf?

Update for anyone interested...not sure why I worried, they're drug dealers at the end of the day and want to sell you product.
Very rushed, poor connection their end but I got exactly what I asked for, subject to MDT and stock levels when script is received...
Took the advice above and asked for more than I actually want.
Choices (I checked what was in stock)

Craft Botanics - Slurricane Mimosa and
Aurora® - Sourdough.

Your previous experience counted in your favour there, congrats! I have 53 yrs xp and Alterna still made me buy some legendary crap three years ago for my first 8)
