Site Updates Public BETA: MedBud's Master Formulary (Advanced Filters for All Medications)

General updates on development of the MedBud platform as a whole.
Now launched in Public BETA for testing and feedback.

We're incredibly proud today to announce the public BETA for what we expect to be the single best tool and most used page across our platform moving forward. MedBud's Master Formulary provides advanced filtering and sorting for all CBPM medications available in the UK, as published on our database. Filtering is currently available for the following fields:
  • Medication Format (Flower, Oils etc.)
  • Availability Status (Main Distributor)
  • Dispensing Pharmacies (Currently Limited to Whatever is on their Formulary, Regardless of In/Out of Stock)
  • Package Price
  • Pence Per Milligram (THC/CBD)
  • THC/CBD
  • Classification (Indica/Sativa)
  • Strains/Cultivars (Including Parent Strains)
  • Irradiation
  • Cultivation Country
  • Packaging Country
  • Brand
  • Producer
  • Expiry Date (Where Known)

We've temporarily stripped back several more advanced features which are still in development, because we feel it's important we get a working version of the tool up as soon as possible for all patients and clinicians - as it's such a vast improvement on our current systems.

Still to follow:
  • Alternate row-based view, more akin to traditional tables on MedBud.
  • Tabs on the grid-based view, showing further details on lineage, terpene profiles, stock levels et cetera.
  • Various other improvements highlighted by our @BETA Testers group which we'll fully document shortly.
Known Issues:
  • Placeholder

We now have a secondary development copy which will be used by our @BETA Testers group to help us finalise our remaining planned features, before they're launched on the main public version of our Master Formulary.

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated 🙌

Hi @Muiredach I am seeing some things, where I filter for stuff from Specials pharma, but when I open said stuff, Specials is not in the list.

Is this a bug? Or is this in cases where stocks are not confirmed with details, but still confirmed... to some extent? 😁 Trying to make some sense of it

Is there a reason why the updates are so infrequent now? I used to pop in every day for a gander but it seems to be weeks without change

Its down to the fact we've been extremely busy behind the scenes putting things in place for the future and I expect the updates to start flowing again as previously anytime now 🙏

Any way to include an option to show balanced flowers?

I find it had to locate them on the Wiki, some have 'balanced' in the name but most don't

Or if there's an existing quick way to find them someone feel free to enlighten me please :)

One of those occassions where, when I finally ask the question I immediately work out a loose hack.

Until / unless there could be a system solution, I've just found that you can

1. Add the highest known THC content balanced flower to the Planner
2. See what the pack total THC is (e.g. 1200mg)
3. Input that value in the 'THC Package Total' slider in the Master Formulary page
4. Set filters to 'Flower', 'Available' + 'Low Stock'
5. Voilà
6. Adjust the slider up a little to see if there are any more

I use the search term "CBD" and it generally brings up predominantly CBD dominant strains / balanced.

Would be easier if they're grouped together much like Indica / Sativa classification, they deserve their own "balanced" grouping.

Some UI criticism.

The sliders for price, mg, etc should be numeric, not a slider. Close to impossible to set it up from a mobile with your fingers, and also sucks on a computer. Goes up to like £800 wtf, I am pretty sure most people would want to filter under £100 😂 If you zoom in the slider does not move as the page scrolls, and if you zoom out, IT'S A SLIDER FOR ANTS (Channeling my inner Zoolander). Either way, 80% of the slider is unusable waste of space.

Some of us have trouble with fine motions, it should not require finger Olympics to filter out everything above £65 lol. I just want to be able to enter a number please.

When the page is reworked for integration into MedBud 2.0, and our major UI overhaul in general, it's going to see some big improvements to UI. Thank you for the comments above @TheGreenAvenger, @GreenRed and @Lank72.

The big decision we have to make this week is deciding between spending a week or two getting reviews finally launched on MedBud 1.0, or jumping straight into the big MedBud 2.0 redesign full-time - which is likely to take at least a couple of months.

Our first paid staff member @Dawgwalker has just finished his first week of updates (formal announcement soonish), and it's starting to free up a lot of my time for development hours 🤞

We'll decide properly during a big staff meeting tomorrow afternoon.

We should be back to full-speed, I fell ill at the end of November and didn't start to perk up until nearly Christmas. We pushed all through January to improve our systems so others could provide backup.

Unfortunately all 50,000+ med/clinic/pharmacy listings updates until this month have been 100% dependent on me.

Good news, if it were me I'd go straight for the big one 8) To save tinkering.

As always I'm ready to help as a volunteer if needed, iirc I emailed you last year with a resume of sorts. .

Thank you. Quite soon we're about to call out for volunteers to help backdate all missing strain descriptions, and we also need some help moderating the news section here (on MedBud 2.0 there's a news ticker across every page on the main database populated from the news forums).

Right now, quite bluntly, we want to ask both yourself and @TheGreenAvenger to join us as you've both previously offered 🍻

Just bare with through next week, and should be able to move forward shortly thereafter if you're both still happy to help out 🤞

Yes indeed, keen to help. I've modded, I'm a (sleeping) sysop on a server I co-founded, admin on another etc. Coding - used to a litle but not now, commisioning coding yes. But happy to virtually sweep the floor if needed 8)

Soon as you need me I'm there 100% whatever it is you want doing, thankful & appreciative for the opportunity to help and assist with the UK's leading patient information resources 🙏

Look forward to getting stuck in as we all work together to make things even better for patients 😁
