Double Hours (Shí 實): A day was divided into 12 Shí (or kè), each roughly two modern hours, but flexible with seasons. For nighttime, they used Geng (watches, about 2.4 hours) and Dian (points within a Geng). Water Clocks: Water clocks measured these units, dripping water to mark intervals.
