I love the Sopranos, but from HBO I think The Wire is probably their greater masterpiece! The sopranos is my favourite boxset
I've been a Trekkie since I was a kid, and my Gran first pushed me to rent some videos when staying with her down in Plymouth. I'm not the greatest fan of the original series, TNG/DS9/VOY are gold to me, and I have a soft spot for Enterprise too - though it is a different kind of Trek.I've only seen the first episodes of the latest Star Trek so may give that a go again but more Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space Nine fan from past series and I never really liked the original ones .
Shameless was filmed within a mile or so of where I live lolWatched LOST again right through still a top notch tv show.
1 of my favs that made HBO was OZ that made SOPRANOS that made THE WIRE all unreal shows that i go back to often esp sopranos.
Just watched 6 series of shameless lol what a show that was as well.
Tv show called brotherhood think only 3 seasons but good show.
The sheild is quality and southland 2 great shows.
These are all TV gold wonderful. The wire is amazing as well. I also like breaking bad and better call saul
Sweet , musta been crazy to see a tv show so close. Was massive when it first came out. timeless tvShameless was filmed within a mile or so of where I live lol
It is a masterclass. Think there is crossovers with homocide life on the street, the corner and the wire and law and order done crossover with homocide all inspired by wire creator they tie into each other. These are all TV gold wonderful.
A friend of mine in Rotterdam, her son is a professional actor now. Turns out he and his peers have watched the wire 30+ times some of them! Its an acting masterclass. However its missing a season or two to fully explain the rest of the infrastructure...
Heres a crossover of the wire from tv called euphoriaYeah all these really good, brutal as the wire, maybe a bit more. I haven't seen the crossover I'll have to go on the hunt for that! +nypd blue!
It was 100% golden age. All powered by the big money behind streaming, AWS+NETFLIX, and these companies are alledgedly separate - a recent (edit) engineering blog post found more circumstancial against https://www.theregister.com/2024/12/18/netflix_aws_management_tools/I'm honestly struggling with disappointing TV schedules these days, back in the early 00s there was so much worth watching airing each week - I look back on it now as a golden age. These days I'm lucky if there's more than one show at once I want to watch each week.
I think all I've watched past year as it's aired:
If we hadn't binned 20-26 episode per year seasons, there's so much more I'd be watching. I hate the fact season length has more than halved, while 'seasons' only really seem to air every 2-3 years now. I've half forgotten what's happened in series like Foundation, House of the Dragon or Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
- Silo
- From
- Severance
- Dexter: Original Sin
