Site Updates Help Fund MedBud's Future: Donations Reopened

General updates on development of the MedBud platform as a whole.

MedBud has long become the most dependable and reliable medical cannabis information platform across the UK; pushed forward by years of over full-time volunteer hours. Our mission is to independently and impartially document the entire UK medical cannabis industry - to better inform patients, clinicians and the greater industry alike.

In order to reach our goal of enough income to employ full-time staff (while currently being grossly over-stretched) - we urgently need to find better dependable monthly funding.

We're relaunching our donations platform, powered DonorBox – and we're now able to accept donations by credit/debit card, PayPal and direct debit - either as a one-off donation, or on a monthly basis.

We try to to provide as much transparency as possible on how we operate, and have just updated our donations page with details on our current monthly overheads, expected future staff costs, and documenting the estimated current income to our organisation.

Any forum members donating are now given a special supporter/donor title, which we've just backdated from all historic donations wherever we can find an email address matching a forum account. Huge thanks to @Marc Landers, @MigraineMan, @Liiam, @Living through Haze and @DOBBIN for helping get us to where we are today 🙌

MedBud™ is a non-profit organisation founded in January 2022, we've survived so far solely from the generosity of donations. We've struggled through our rise to become the most dependable UK medical cannabis information platform, based solely upon the dedication of volunteers. We urgently need to hire full-time staff to help manage our ever-increasing daily workload.

Before long, we hope to allow advertising banners and to start offering industry services to help secure our future funding. For the moment, we're solely dependent upon donations.

We're launching our fourth call for funding and donations. The first in February 2022 kept us funded throughout our first 6 months until September 2022. Our second call for donations in November 2022 carried us through until spring 2023. Our 'Foundation Fundraiser' launched 20th April 2023 both managed to ensure our incorporation - and has kept us funded for over a year, with a couple of companies pledging recurring monthly donations of several hundred pounds.

Right now, our overheads are set to surpass our donation income once again – we urgently need to improve funding to secure our future stability, dependability and success. We appreciate any and all support from patients and industry alike.

 
Yep, it came through - thank you! All recurring donations set-up via PayPal are still live, it's just card processing which is still down for the moment.
 
It is through paypal but without having to signup to paypal if you don't wish to and you can donate direct by mastercard this way iirc (y)

So i just tried and paypal wanted a login and i have no idea what it is and there is no guest option. Do i really need to hunt down my paypal?

Strange it offers to let me do it as a guest after inputting an email address as I was the same about hunting down an old Paypal login but I was able got round it (y)

Is it working now to send a small amount via mastercard?
Unfortunately not right now, as @GrownHealth says we're temporarily PayPal or bank transfer only until we get a new card processor onboard. I've whittled things down to two different candidates to apply to, one came as a recommendation from a pharmacy 🤞

I cant see the screen Grownhealth does and god knows where that paypal and email login are its my backup email thats tied too hehe. I use IOS and firefox focus which tend to conflict but tried Chrome and nope no guest signup.


When i get my rl stuff sorted i will look again by then you will likely have the Mastercard thing sorted. Mamedica® are letting me pay by card now as well previously another PITA with IOS and Firefox.
 
@Muiredach I don't think the regular payment I set up has been taking it. I don't see it in my transactions. Should I setup a new one? I see there is an option to donate in our profile page now, should I use this? i thought I'd set it up via paypal but I don't see it there either.

MedBud has become such a huge resource for all in the community. So much so that prescribers regularly consult it. I see some clinic/pharmacies do donate which is good but me thinks they have deeper pockets lol. I'm also gonna dig a little deeper.

Thank you! Standing orders are all good now - we're settled in fine with a major high-street bank.
I totally missed this.

Is this still correct? I'm happy to set up a standing order if the the processing fees are favourable if you share the account deets (I looked at the donation page and couldn't see them, but I'm a massive derp and regularly misread things directly in front of my eyeballs)

We definitely secured banking earlier in the year and I'm sure @Muiredach will be able to fill in the blanks (y)
