Site Updates Help Fund MedBud's Future: Donations Reopened

General updates on development of the MedBud platform as a whole.

MedBud has long become the most dependable and reliable medical cannabis information platform across the UK; pushed forward by years of over full-time volunteer hours. Our mission is to independently and impartially document the entire UK medical cannabis industry - to better inform patients, clinicians and the greater industry alike.

In order to reach our goal of enough income to employ full-time staff (while currently being grossly over-stretched) - we urgently need to find better dependable monthly funding.

We're relaunching our donations platform, powered DonorBox – and we're now able to accept donations by credit/debit card, PayPal and direct debit - either as a one-off donation, or on a monthly basis.

We try to to provide as much transparency as possible on how we operate, and have just updated our donations page with details on our current monthly overheads, expected future staff costs, and documenting the estimated current income to our organisation.

Any forum members donating are now given a special supporter/donor title, which we've just backdated from all historic donations wherever we can find an email address matching a forum account. Huge thanks to @Marc Landers, @MigraineMan, @Liiam, @Living through Haze and @DOBBIN for helping get us to where we are today 🙌

We truly appreciate any and all support from patients, clinicians and the industry alike 💞

MedBud™ is a non-profit organisation founded in January 2022, we've survived so far solely from the generosity of donations. We've struggled through our rise to become the most dependable UK medical cannabis information platform, based solely upon the dedication of volunteers. We urgently need to hire full-time staff to help manage our ever-increasing daily workload.

Before long, we hope to allow advertising banners and to start offering industry services to help secure our future funding. For the moment, we're solely dependent upon donations.

We're launching our fourth call for funding and donations. The first in February 2022 kept us funded throughout our first 6 months until September 2022. Our second call for donations in November 2022 carried us through until spring 2023. Our 'Foundation Fundraiser' launched 20th April 2023 both managed to ensure our incorporation - and has kept us funded for over a year, with a couple of companies pledging recurring monthly donations of several hundred pounds.

Right now, our overheads are set to surpass our donation income once again – we urgently need to improve funding to secure our future stability, dependability and success. We appreciate any and all support from patients and industry alike.

Yep, appreciate you considering it. We've set minimum donations at £5 though as under that more than 20% can be lost on fees.

I will donate shortly, but wondered, have you considered setting MedBud up as a Community interest company? We run a Community interest company and it allows us to find funding to employ several people to run our Forest school and Bushcraft business. Standing between charities and private business, it's a great way of being able to offer specialised services to a customer base. MedBud is an extremely valuable resource that offers solid advice to those like myself who are just starting the MC journey and I have been able to make many decisions based around the information available not only through the media on the site but from input of others on the forums. I run community camps in the woods and just this weekend gone ran a camp for East Anglian Bushcraft ( on YouTube if anyone is interested) and as payment for attendance I ask for a donation at a min of ten pounds to a charity or suitable organisation. This time it was Models For Heroes, next time I will ask for donations to go to MedBud. Best of luck moving forwards and finding a way to employ people full time on a wage, anything that builds the medical cannabis industry into a viable income for employees has to be a good thing.
Thank you, it's hugely appreciated 💞

Actually, yes, without attempting to announce anything prematurely - this is actually the exact future vision for MedBud. We intend to launch two somewhat naturally opposing boards, one made up of industry/clinicians, and the other of patients/carers/advocates. The long-term idea is that new ideas and big changes are presented to both boards, and there's some form of consensus needed between both sides on how to best implement.

As I say, we don't want to announce anything prematurely - and more thought needs to go into this yet. Naturally there's some things we've felt we've needed to do so far which we think are correct, which the industry would fight against. This is something I've been mulling over for multiple years at this point.

One thing is for sure though, we want to find means to have input from all sides which help inform the future of the platform overall.

This is amazing, huge thanks to you. We actually can't be too far apart, I'm based in North Northamptonshire.

We definitely need the full-time support as soon as feasible, I think both myself and @GrownHealth are getting busier and busier at this point - though ever determined to keep -up. End of the day, we want to create a model for the most fair and impartial medical cannabis industry coverage possible - then allow that to be replicated in other international territories too.

Any patient of any medicine deserves impartial and informed consent of what a clinician is attempting to prescribe them, that's really at the core of everything we do.

You are very welcome, happy to be a part of a better future. We are based on the Ceredigion coast near Cardigan, we hosted Craig and he travelled up from his base area in Norfolk. People travel quite some distance to use our site. I had many conversations around the fire with folk who are seeking to obtain MC and I pointed them in Medbuds direction as a very clear and easy to use resource for finding out what is required. There are a large number of veterans come to the group and we are going to be a growing demographic on the MC scene as we find that the filth the pharamceutical industry puts out is just poisoning us and not giving any real relief without consequence. At the next camp in Sept I will be seeing a lot more veterans who will also be seeking to begin the herbal highway to heaven.... I will also point them your way. Keeping this in mind, at some point the veterans charities will see what is growing in the veteran community and want a piece of the action as they are businesses after all and anything that keeps their kudos up keeps their business alive. A good way to be ahead of the game and a leader in that field might be to align yourself with the Armed Forces Covenant, it is law in Wales for certain businesses to align themselves with the goals of the Covenant. And I believe there are rumblings to make it law in England too, being at the front of that charge before being forced to by an act of law may well put you in all the right places to pick up the support of a growing community of MC patients. If I can be of any assistance with any of that let me know. NK
